Attending a Greek Theater in Athens during the Hellenic Age would have surely given a different setting than attending a play in the United States theaters of today. Greek plays were performed in an outdoor theater and were almost always performed by three performers (no matter how many speaking parts the play involved). Greek plays arose as part of religious festivals in honor of the god Dionysus and unless later revived, performed only one time. The plays had a voting system, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (last) finish, making it a prestigious event that paved the way to modern theater.
